In either case (bank transfer or deposit through Western Union), the client should add to the agreed price, the commission each bank or Western Union charges for their services. - A deposit of 50% of the total price of the services will be required upon confirmation of the reservation and prior to 60 days of the service, the remaining 50% will be paid 15 days prior to the departure date of the trip in the case of individuals and 45 days prior to the departure of the trip in the case of groups.
- Kawsay strongly recommends its passengers to obtain cancellation travel insurance in case of disease or death. If Kawsay were forced to cancel a circuit for reasons dependent on the company’s will, the total amount paid would be reimbursed to the client. However, in no case will the client be entitled to any other financial compensation or claim for any other inconveniences. In relation to fixed departures, cancellations may only occur if a group has less than 5 travellers, 50 days prior to the departure date. In this case, Kawsay will reimburse the total amount of the contracted services.
- Cancellations will be received via email with the subject ‘cancellation’ and once they are processed, Kawsay will issue an email acknowledging and confirming the cancellation. Please, keep in mind the following cancellation penalties:
We consider a reservation being that of a “group” when there are 10 passengers or more.
| GROUPS | INDIVIDUALS | CANCELLATION EXPENSES |
|---|---|---|
| 46 to 30 days | 30 to 16 days | 30% |
| 29 to 15 days | 15 to 10 days | 50% |
| 14 to 06 days | 10 to 06 days | 80% |
| 06 to 01 days | 05 to 01 days | 100% |
Note: These day limits have been chosen because they correspond with the cancellation penalties that most of our suppliers apply.
No show: 100% penalty
In case of air tickets, once they are issued we will have to charge 100% of its cost, as the airline charges us for this, even though they are not used.
Once an Inca Trail service is confirmed, it will be subject to a 50% penalty if cancelled or if date is modified.
- If for ‘force majeure’ reasons a person or group should not be able to travel on the scheduled date, a change of reservation may be made depending on availability in flights and/or hotels. In this case, Kawsay should be immediately informed. In this case we will only charge the expenses that our suppliers charge us.
- In case arrivals are delayed as a result of problems with international flights, Kawsay does not contemplate any reduction in its prices for the lost day(s).
- Kawsay is neither responsible, nor will it accept any claim as a result of the impossibility in making or completing the trip, due to legal, judicial, police, documentation trouble or any other personal problem of the client.
- In case of accidents or any other circumstances that endanger the continuity of the trip, the members of the group will decide, for the whole group, whether to interrupt or continue the itinerary. In case of interruption of the itinerary, Kawsay will reimburse for the non-travelled portion of the trip, minus the penalties corresponding to accommodation, international flights and other third-party services (tourist tickets, endorsed routes, etc.)
- Schedules for domestic trips may vary according to climate conditions, natural disasters, strikes and other reasons that exclusively depend on the transportation company; in these cases, Kawsay does not take any responsibility for these variations, and the program will be adjusted to the re-scheduling of the transportation companies and Kawsay itself, until the offered itinerary is completed.
- Our programs do not include any type of insurance, except those provided by transportation companies, who must have SOAT (obligatory insurance for road accidents). It is highly recommended to buy insurances before starting the trip.
- Kawsay is not responsible for any theft or loss of luggage and /or personal effects. We strongly recommend buying a special insurance for these possibilities.
- In case of bodily damages, Kawsay will be in no obligation to lend money to the client for the expenses generated. We recommend our clients to buy an insurance policy that covers these events. If the client chooses not to, Kawsay will not be responsible for any of the possible medical and/or other expenses generated.
- A cancellation insurance policy is necessary for the client to recover the amount(s) paid, in the event of a cancellation due to health reasons.
- Citizens of certain countries need a Visa to enter Peru. Enquire about this. Visas are not included in our programs. A Visa with multiple entries is necessary for circuits touring neighbouring countries and a simple Visa is needed for the other countries these circuits include.
- For expeditions to the Amazon jungle area, Yellow Fever vaccines are required with 15 days of anticipation in entering the area.
- Kawsay states that it only acts as an operator in Peru. Transportation, restaurants, accommodation and other services are purchased from independent suppliers, whose operations and decisions are beyond Kawsay’s control.
- Accommodation
Depending on the places and dates requested, it may be possible that the requested accommodation is not available. This change will be reported immediately by Kawsay to our client. After this advice and having the client accepted this change, the client will not be entitled to any financial compensation or refund, in the event they do not like the new accommodation as much as that originally reserved. - Due to the particular characteristics of our circuits, our clients must respect instructions and recommendations given by our guides. Kawsay is not responsible for any accident or physical injury that may result from a client behaving in an inconsiderate way.
- Natural disasters or force majeure events
Kawsay may not be held responsible in case of natural disaster or force majeure events, activities established by the government or local authorities, war, civil riots, terrorist acts, strikes, robberies, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, adverse climate conditions, damages due to sea, land or air accidents, or any other events that are beyond its control or that of its suppliers. - Kawsay may, at any time, interrupt the participation of a member of the group if it is considered this person is in danger, if his/her behaviour affects the integrity and safety of the group, or if his/her behaviour is inappropriate or disrespectful. In this case of interruption of the itinerary, Kawsay will reimburse for the non-travelled portion of the trip, minus the penalties corresponding to accommodation, international flights and other third-party services (tourist tickets, endorsed routes, etc.)
