(Arequipa, Colca, Lake Titicaca, Cusco) Day 1 LIMA
Arrive in Lima. Transfer to Hotel.
Day 2 LIMACity Tour of Lima, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Visit the Cathedral, the San Francisco convent well known because of its beautiful colonial architecture, see the Main Plaza, the Government Palace, Town Hall and the modern districts of Lima.
Day 3 LIMA - AREQUIPA
Transfer to the airport to catch the flight to Arequipa. Transfer from Arequipa’s airport to
Hotel.
Visit Santa Catalina Monastery, built in the XVI century this Dominican monastery resembles a small city with a very special architecture.
Very early in the morning you will go to the “Cruz del Condor” where you will be able to see magnificent Condors. You will continue your trip to Puno, the city on lake Titicaca`s shores. After a 6-hour bus ride you will be arriving to Puno.
Day 5 COLCA - PUNOFull day navigation in Lake Titicaca. The highest navigable lake in the world. You will visit the Uros floating islands famous because of the integration with their habitat they have managed to accomplish. They do everything with the totora reed they find in the lake: houses, schools, boats, beds…even the whole island is man made with totora reed! After learning from them about their daily activities we will continue to Taquile Island. Of the two Quechua islands in Lake Titicaca. UNESCO have declared Taquile textiles as Intangible Human Heritage, this amazing textiles tell us different stories and serve as social borders as colours and patterns tell us about civil state or position on society. You will spend the nigh in one of the Taquilean families that have opened their houses to tourism, today one of the main economic activities in the island.
Day 6 PUNO - TAQUILEEnjoy the beautiful scenery in Taquile. If you are an early bird, sun rise in the Lake is an amazing experience. After lunch you will be transferred by regular boat to Puno.
Day 7 TAQUILE – PUNODisfrute del hermoso paisaje de Taquile. Si usted es un madrugador podrá apreciar los asombrosos amaneceres que se ven en el lago, es una experiencia increíble. Después del almuerzo se le trasladará en bote hacia Puno.
Day 8 PUNO - CUSCOBus ride to Cusco. This beautiful ride will allow you to see the high plateau, land of llama shepherds as well as a beautiful valley while we go down in altitude to arrive to Cusco, our final destination. On our way we will visit different archaeological sites: Pucara, one of the oldest sites in the “altiplano” area, cradle of the Collao culture; we will also stop at the picturesque village of Raqchi where an Inca Temple dedicated to God Viracocha, one of the strongest ones in the Inca Pantheon, is located. Our final stop will be the church of Andahuaylillas, a beautiful colonial church that is also known as the “sixteenth chapel of Peru” due to the fabulous art work on its ceiling. Upon your arrival in Cusco, transfer to the hotel.
Day 9 CUSCOFree morning. In the afternoon: City Tour: Visit Korikancha, the ancient Inca Sun Temple, now Dominican Convent, the Cathedral and its beautiful mestizo paintings, nearby archaeological sites such as the amazing Inca complex of Sacsayhuaman will be explored today.
Day 10 CUSCO – MACHU PICHU – CUSCOEarly in the morning we will board the backpacker train for pour excursion of Machu Pichu. Guided tour of the marvelous citadel follows visiting the main plaza, the royal quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the circular tower and the sacred Sun Dial and burial grounds. Works are notable for the application of a great knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, architecture, hydraulic engineering, medicine and particularly agriculture. Return to Cusco on board of the backpacker train.
Day 11 CUSCOFree day
Day 12 CUSCO – LIMA - HOMETransfer to the airport to catch the airplane to Lima. Transfer to Hotel / Airport / etc
